1. INTRODUCTIONS AND WELCOME

Stephen welcomed everyone to the meeting.
2. APOLOGIES 

Ten people said they were sorry they could not come to the meeting.

 

3. NOTES OF THE LAST MEETING 

These are the main things in the Notes of the last meeting that we talked about:

East Lancs People First: there is now money to have a Support Worker for a year.  

Trinity:  Ian Turnbull is working with Trinity to agree the level of service for people.

4. SERVICE USER UPDATE 

Train the Trainers – Four people from ELSUN went on a course  to learn how to become trainers.

Kim asked whether Train the Trainers could be included in Workforce Development. She said it was important to have local support. 
ELSUN have written to the Transport Minister about Now Cards
Peter and Robert have been visiting swimming pools to find out about access for people with wheelchairs. ELSUN will be writing to Hyndburn Sports Centre about having a lift.
Presentations – ELSUN have had presentations from the Job Centre, Adult Learning and Connexions. Connexions are going to come to the 18-30 ELSUN Conference. They had some good ideas when they came to a planning meeting.
Newspaper Articles – Members have written to Rossendale Free Press and Lancashire Life to write an article about all the hard work that ELSUN are doing.

Burnley Express have invited them to write a column every three months.
Logo Competition – The members have held a competition to design a new logo for their Website. The winner will be announced in July.

5. PROVIDER NETWORK UPDATE

Donna Briggs told everyone about the last meeting:
Julie Hotham and Suzanne Barber asked for more people need to get involved with the Web Communication Group
CSCI logo Vincent Mulligan the Area Manager for Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) came and talked about his job.
assistive technology Clare Sherliker talked about pieces of equipment in people’s homes that help them to be independent. 
Ian Turnbull talked about Supporting People reducing the money it gives to support people
6. FAMILY NETWORK

No report was given.

7. CORNWALL REPORT

Kim talked about the Cornwall Report.  This describes the low standards of care and services in Cornwall.

Kim explained that all providers in East Lancs had been asked to report on their services so that they could be improved.

Kevin O’Keefe told us that LCC have appointed a Safeguarding Co-ordinator who he thinks should come to meetings.
Kim updated everyone on the review of the supported living scheme in Hyndburn and Ribble Valley.


8. LEISURE LINK

James Haigh came to talk about East Lancashire Leisure Link. 

Leisure Link runs supported sessions to access interests, make friends, learn skills and gives carers some time off. 








9. INTEGRATED COMISSIONING BOARD

We talked about Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Primary Care Trust.

We talked about problems with the Pooled budget because of vacancies.

A draft of the Business Plan will be ready in July

We talked about plans for Social Work Team and Community Nurses Teams in East Lancashire.

There was a finance report
10. ANY OTHER BUSINESS

People went to St Peter's Centre on Tuesday to learn how to Chair and do better at meetings.

Kim can’t come to the next meeting, and asked if someone else can be the chair.
